Who Posted This Job, Casper?
By Bob Deakin

I’m proud to announce that I’m a top applicant for a Marketing and Communications Specialist position at a company with a compound name, and 110+ other jobs.
I never realized I was so in demand. And it’s a LinkedIn job post, so that makes it extra special. I have years of marketing experience, references, and I employ befitting grammar and optimization practices.
What? 100 LinkedIn applicants have already responded? It was posted an hour ago! Oh no, I bet one of them has better skills than me. Who posted this job, Casper? Are they looking to hire an empty suit?

Has anyone ever been hired from a job post on LinkedIn? I’ve heard that people properly win the Publishers Clearing House sweepstakes. Anything is possible.
This wouldn’t be a “ghost” job would it? I’ve been reading stories lately, like The Rise of Ghost Jobs published on Artisan and I have a sneaky suspicion not all of these “jobs” are legit.
Why would a company post a ghost job? To make it look like they’re busy? To comfort or frighten their current employees? Are they resume stuffing their databases for future considerations?
Hmm.
Doesn’t sound like a place I want to work at anyway. I’ll hold off on this and the other 110+ openings for now, and get back to writing my book.
