Scoring with Comportment Versus Mass
By Bob Deakin

I have lived SEO inside out and upside down, schlepping the tedious codes and practices. I get it: If the bot finds you, a lucky roll of the dice puts you in the crosshairs of the hunter.
GEO is no knight in shining armor or backstage party, but I want in. It’s a different game, scoring with comportment versus mass.
What is in it for me, the writer? Time. Research is paramount.
Like all writers pouring through links and docs, I hunt nouns in an ocean of adverbs, pronouns and prepositions like a bat hunting mosquitoes: Wasted time.
If GEO is offering an answer instead of links, I’m in. I’m going to over-research anyway, but simple is saner.
Why GEO for me, the business? Motivation. It’s on me to be credible.
I’m not Jackie Collins or Phil Collins, even if I write and play the drums. Why should I have a larger digital billboard than iconic brands?
That is why I work to be better every day. I don’t write for the sake of filling space with words; that’s what AIGC is for.
I want you to want me. Sounds like a song. Seriously, though, life is hard. If I can provide a moment of entertainment or inspiration for you, I’m going for it. I follow the writers who do that for me.
Comportment Versus Mass
Again, GEO is not adding a passing lane on the highway, but I see it theoretically shrinking my exposure to the internet. Advertising revenue is sure to adjust.
When I see phrases like “citing credible sources” and “authoritative and structured,” it brings me back to my journalism roots, where accuracy mattered more than shock.
It will take consistent, quality performance to be one of the cool kids, but I want an invitation to this party.
