Good God, Jump To Recipe!!!

Good God, jump to recipe! How do recipes warrant so many words? I am an avid cook and an avid reader, but I don’t want to read a 3,000-word essay on chicken tandoori when I’m hungry.

What makes recipes so special? No one will read a blog entry longer than 50 words. On the other hand, a recipe can run a page describing how to clean cilantro. Not only will I get the history of tandoori chicken, but I also get the history of clay, ovens, clay ovens, marination, fire, India, and South Asia.

Jump To Recipe

If you want to eat today, click JUMP TO RECIPE. I assume the verbose recipe preambles are intended for those spending their entire day preparing a meal. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Recipes have become stories. In a baffling contradiction of current trends, with the most-read content averaging 25 words, recipe writers have carte blanche for a magnum opus.

No matter the cuisine, ethnicity, simplicity, or extravagance, more is more. Whether you’re serving a party of 20 or a 3-year-old with an Easy-Bake Oven, serve as many words as possible. Make Dickens and Proust look like social media influencers.

Wrap It Up

I love recipes and cooking, and the love that recipe writers bring to their craft. The gastronomic wonders they make possible bring countless pleasures to my life; not only at the table, but in the kitchen.

Write to your heart’s desire about anything loosely related to your epicurean bounty. There is an audience for it. Just keep that all-important tab available with each entry: JUMP TO RECIPE.

Thank you!
